How long does it typically take to learn to drive?

The time it takes to learn varies for each individual, but on average, it can take anywhere from 20 to 40 hours of professional instruction, plus additional practice time.

Intensive courses compress learning into a short period, often daily lessons over 1-2 weeks. Semi-intensive courses spread lessons out more, typically 2-3 times a week over several weeks.

In the UK, you can start learning to drive a car when you’re 17 years old. However, you can apply for your provisional license when you’re 15 years and 9 months old.
